Book Review: The Omnivore’s Dilemma By Marisa | November 19th, 2006
A really insightful look at the food chain that sustains human life. The author delves first into the story of corn, which underpins much of our highly processed diet in America. Next he examines organic, and in particular “industrial organic” food, and then compares that to small-scale, local, sustainable enterprises. Along the way he touches on the history of farm policy, plant evolution, “the distinctive innate desires of a chicken” and much, much more. Finally, he goes to great lengths to personally experience something as close to hunter-gathering as the current state of our world allows, and even probes the vegetarian question. He offers no easy answers, but instead really interesting questions. I’ll certainly never be able to shop at a Whole Foods again. Wait … I never shopped there anyway. But seriously, it does make you rethink food, and your relationship to it. Overall an outstanding read. Check it out!

Hey! time for some shameless self-promotion and shout-outs to my peeps.
Well, if you've read this far, why not? This blog runs on Kick-ass Wordpress, the best blog software in the world using the Crimson Milk theme by Andrew Sutherland because Marisa is just way too lazy to make her own. Did you realize you can move stuff around? Try it. It's Ajax-a-licious. Grab something with your mouse and scootch it wherever you want it to be.Technorati thinks I'm cool. You should too.
